Unforgettable Wedding Reception

When your very good friend asks you to snap just a pic of the cake cutting and maybe the first dance, you bring a couple of cameras and enlist some friends to help capture the evening. I am not the best at indoor photography, but I want to get there. I had my external flash and got it to work well at one point and then I struggled right when they were about to cut the cake, so I took it off. I was sad about the quality of some of these, but luckily my friend wasn't. She didn't hire anyone to shoot the reception, only the most important part of the day at the temple. So she was grateful. I am grateful for Carli and Stefani for shooting some with me. And even if the quality isn't the best, I think you get a feel for the fantastic evening that was had by all.

It was so beautiful and just such a celebration! You would never have known that the wedding cake never showed up (the bakery had the date wrong) and that Melinda and Amy saved the day with a Safeway cake. Nothing was going to get this couple and their family down. And it made for some great stories They also had some darling traditions. One that I want to adopt is after the first dance, the bride explained that she always loved to dance with her dad. And so for the father/daughter dance, all the fathers were to grab their daughters and dance with them. It was the most touching thing to see all the older and younger daughters on the dance floor with their dads. I loved every detail of this reception! And especially the look on this brand new married couples faces.

Love this Beautiful Family

What a blessing to know that families are forever. We had a tender photoshoot a couple days after the passing of my sister in law's husband and father to these beautiful children. We had planned January 2nd all along, thinking he would be in the photos, but the cancer took his life early that morning. So much love and emotions on this rainy day, just a couple of days later. I was so glad that they still wanted to preserve these moments with them all home together. Love them all so much.

Engagements in the Forrest

What a fun session in the morning light with this darling couple. She grew up where there are no redwood trees and fell in love with them after getting engaged in them, so naturally she wanted her engagements there. This was my first forrest shoot and I love the way it turned out. You can't go wrong when shooting lovebirds.
